Summer Meet Up 2008
CANCELLED
Please read the Summer Meeting Cancelled blog entry.
We have organised a summer meet up (party) for Songstuff members in Glasgow, Scotland, for 22nd - 24th August 2008.
Our site party is a great chance to meet some of the faces behind the text and songs, to hear some great original music and perhaps discover new music collaboration partners! Oh yes, and a great excuse to let your hair down (if you have any), knock back a draught of beer or two and discuss the finer points of philosophy while solving the problems of the world. Sound good?
Attendance is free (although donations are very welcome!). We ask only that you confirm your attendance in our forum.

Agenda
Friday 22nd August
Member meet and greet in the evening for a social get together. Maybe a pub with some entertainment, Food, drinks, get to know you.
Saturday 23rd August
Main event. (1pm to 1am) Hired venue with P.A. and some recording gear for an open mic session. jams, socialising and our T Shirt hand out!
PA system, lighting, back line and recording gear provided, with the intention of creating pod casts of performances for interested musicians. Although we will be providing some guitars, where it is possible we encourage members to bring their own instrument.
If you would like to play a fuller set instead of an open mic approach, please let us know (via the forum) the maximum length of set you would be prepared to play. This will enable us to draw up a running list and bring publish a schedule for the day.
For this reason please also let us know if you intend taking part in the open mic sessions, although I am sure we can always accommodate a few songs
The opportunity to jam should be good fun, and who knows may provide the seed for new music collaborations!
Sunday 24th August
Sunday lunch and a chance to say goodbye while sober!

The Venue
Set in Glasgow's trendy West End Glasgow University Union (GUU) is a venue full of character and history.
In the privacy of the GUU reading room we have our own bar and bar staff. There are a broad range of entertainments in the area to suite all tastes, and a great cross section of accommodation available too.
The GUU is part of the University of Glasgow campus. For your information I have included some links to photographs of the university and surrounding area:
From the map you can also see that the GUU is right on the edge of Kelvingrove Park, and is within 5 minutes walk of the most popular streets in the west end. Public Transport links are good too with two underground stations within 5 minutes walk, and two bus services stop outside the Union front door.

Accommodation
We are pulling together a list of accommodation in the area and places to contact. Information will include hotels, Bed nd Breakfast houses, Student Halls of Residence (unoccupied at that time of year) and travel lodges.
As soon as information becomes available we will update this page and post the information available on our forum.
Expenses
In addition to your own transport and accommodation costs, drinks and food will be at your own expense.
