I’ve been singing since I could talk. My first solo was in the 1st grade play “Mary Poppins” I was the Bird Lady and had a lovely dress. In 4th grade I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz and somewhere in there I sang a lead song from “Annie” I screwed up a line and it happened to be the que line to bring another orphan on stage to sit with me. NIGHTMARES!!!!
I was always the soprano in school and church choirs but broke protocol often so I could sing harmony. Oh how I loved the challenge of staying on key and making the notes blend. I still get weak in the knees when I hear a tenor sing…
In High School, I loved to show off and make a room stand still just because I was singing but as I grew older the smokey bars and stages did not allow for that kind of showmanship. I had to work hard to earn a few dollars. I never got lucky, and have never been in the right place at the right time but hey, I’m not dead yet!
Some bands I’ve played in (that never got famous) Southern Comfort, Bad Habits, and my favorite Flat Rabbit (yes really) all cover bands with maybe a few originals (never mine)
I’ve been in a professional studio with each of these bands to no avail…we never got rich or famous.
Now that I’m really older…a new twist in my musical aspect of life is that I love to write songs. I know I’ve always written songs, it’s just they never made it to paper. That is until I found Songstuff.com This website has given me wings and confidence to be the person that has been hiding for years. I hope you can enjoy some of my lyrics here on Songstuff.
Before Songstuff 1994 – 2013: 15- 20 songs written never officially copy written
After Songstuff 2014 – 2013: over 100 songs written; only the good ones copy written
I’ve worked as an Administrative Assistant for over 20 years in many different fields from retail to car rental to the Catholic Church. I even worked virtually for two years from home! I love the organization work can bring. That’s why when I only felt like writing sad songs, I decided to take a break from writing (on a regular basis) and help John and Songstuff with Administrative Support. I take notes at the Site Staff meetings and edit the typo’s out of the Newsletter (sorry about the one that slipped through in February 2014…)
Encouraged by some other members here on Songstuff, I did participate in the 6 week free Online Songwriting Course offered by the Berklee School of Music. I even got a certificate!
To collaborate with a melody maker and sell my songs for a million bucks! I can dream…right?!
I do want to hone my craft as lyricist and want to hear all my lyrics to music someday. I intend to learn and grow here at Songstuff with the Marketing and Production articles and programs offered here.
Well enough about me! What are you reading my profile for? Go see what Songstuff can offer you. The articles, forums, featured artists, poetry, technical….
