6th Annual/CMT NSAI Song Contest
NASHVILLE, TN - The Grand Prize Winner, CMT Listeners Choice Award Winner and Finalists have been announced for the 6th Annual CMT/NSAI Song Contest. The contest is an international songwriting competition that accepts all genres of music.
Zane Williams, of Nashville, TN, received the Grand Prize in the 6th Annual CMT/NSAI Song Contest for his song "The Big Picture".
The 6th Annual contest included a NEW prize this year called the CMT Listeners Choice Award. Music fans across the world were able to log on to www.cmt.com from March 1st - April 23rd, 2006, to listen to songs from the contest's 15 finalists. Music fans then voted on their favorite song, giving contest entrants a second chance to win big. The CMT Listeners Choice Award competition received over 106,000 online votes. The song "What If I Can't" by contestant Elizabeth Marlowe received an overwhelming 45% of the votes.
"We strive to award our winners in a way that will jump-start their careers and give them opportunities that they would not have had otherwise. Providing our winners with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get their song in front of the Music Row decision-makers is something that NSAI is proud to be able to do," said Bart Herbison, Executive Director of NSAI.
The 6th Annual Song Contest Grand Prize winner, along with the CMT Listeners' Choice Award winner, will be offered a single-song publishing contract from one of six major publishers. The Grand Prize Winner and CMT Listeners' Choice Award winner will also receive entrance into the NSAI Songwriter Protege program. They will also receive a three-day trip to Nashville including airfare and hotel accommodations, pitching of their songs to publishers and music row executives through the CMT/NSAI Song Contest Winners Compilation CD, a professional demo recording of the winning songs recorded and produced on Music Row, great prizes from Gibson, SHURE, Masterwriter, Fostex and more! Four finalists will also be offered single-song publishing contracts from major publishers.

The CMT/NSAI Song Contest provides the best avenue for emerging songwriters to open doors to industry contacts and have their songs pitched to record labels and top publishing executives. Since his winning song was announced, 2003 Grand Prize Winner, Jesse Terry has been offered a publishing deal as a staff songwriter and is currently co-writing with top Pro songwriters in Nashville . 2002 Grand Prize song contest winner Tracey Naples signed a label development deal with DreamWorks Records shortly after her winning song was selected.

All proceeds from the 6th Annual CMT/NSAI Song Contest benefit NSAI's legislative efforts to protect the rights of songwriters. NSAI is the world's largest not-for-profit songwriters trade organization.
