Copyright License - Permissions Assignments and Scope

An article is a creative work, and as such we are required to have permission from the copyright holder to use the article, and any restrictions that apply to those permissions. As the author the copyright owner would normally be you.

In order to use the article we require permissions to:

  • Format the article (includes layout, application of font styles and colour scheme, splitting article across more than one page if necessary, image resizing)
  • Publish the article (transmit, broadcast, distribute, produce)
  • Create derivatives (Summary descriptions, abstracts, extracts, or quotes)
  • Publish derivatives (transmit, broadcast, distribute, produce)
  • Redistribute derivatives for publication by other parties(title and descriptions are added to our RSS news streams for distribution to RSS subscribers. That means other sites as well as individuals. We also promote articles in our newsletters)

We will not redistribute your finished article to others for publication. Apart from your moral rights reasons, that undermines it\’s value to Songstuff as the article would no longer be content unique to Songstuff.

We also require other rights regarding the scope of application of these rights and conditions of use:

  • Worldwide (Songstuff is viewable on a worldwide basis)
  • Royalty Free (We need to be able to use this article at no cost to Songstuff)
  • Non-exclusive or exclusive (Obviously we prefer that Songstuff is the only one publishing this revision of this article, but that is completely up to you).

Assignment of copyright permission can be accomplished in several ways from detailed conditions to blanket statements. In the interest of clarity we provide a template for a more detailed assignment of rights. If you wish to grant us rights using a blanket statement, that is up to you. For example “royalty free on an unlimited basis”.

Note: Material accepted for publication will be formatted for publication on Songstuff. We produce abridged versions of original articles in order to promote them across our site and those of our partners, clients and affiliates.

Note: You and/or anyone giving you permission to use the materials will retain all rights, title, and interest in the submitted materials not granted herein to Songstuff under copyright law, unless specified otherwise.
